Year End Gratefulness...

“This is the key to life: To expect everything to be given to you from above, yet to be genuinely surprised and forever grateful, when they are.
Expecting all good things to be yours, while not knowing how to take anything for granted. If there may be a key in life, this is the key.”
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            -C. BellJoy C.

Thanksgiving is the language of heaven, and we had better start to learn it if we are not to be mere dumb aliens there.
                                                                                                                                                                           -Aurthur John (AJ)

At the end of August we started on a journey of thanksgiving and gratefulness… experiencing the naturally supernatural life of the sacred… where every moment, every encounter, every prayer, every word given, every listening ear, every meal celebrated, every bit of laughter shared…where every moment was sacred!

We traveled 52,517 miles in the air, 5 continents, and invested in people from 41 nations… Chile, Finland, Switzerland, Congo, Benin, India, South Africa, USA, Swaziland, Mozambique, Canada, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Nigeria, China, Japan, Germany, Holland, Israel, South Korea, France, Russia, Scotland, Kenya, Uganda, Ireland, Ghana, Iran, Argentina, Tanzania, Togo, Madagascar,
Malaysia, Taiwan, Barbados, and Mexico!

A week before our trip was to begin we still didn't have any tickets or visas for Brazil. Within a few days we had 10 year visas and our tickets to NYC.  NYC gave enough for the tickets to Brazil, Brazil gave to get us to Australia, Australia gave for our flights to South Africa, and South Africa gave to get us back to the states and to Switzerland! We celebrated stepping out in what we heard from the Lord and then provision followed.

We celebrated many friends and moments of relationship along our way… surprising gifts of rest and fun, officiated a wedding at the foothills of the Alps, sailing in Sydney, meals and laughter… so grateful and thankful!

A few stories capture our amazing last few months. While in Brazil we learned about a traditional tea that families share together every day. We brought the tea, the special cup and metal straw with us to our following destinations. When in South Africa during a worship community night we brought the tea to share with a few of our friends at the YWAM base who are from Brazil. Rich prepared the tea and was looking to see who to share the first cup with when the Lord told him to bring it to a young lady from Brazil who was also in the YWAM DTS.
Her hands were lifted up in worship, as she sung Rich tapped her on the shoulder and offered her the tea saying, "this is from your Father". She just wept and later told us that at the very moment Rich offered the tea she was worshipping and thinking of her dad and the difficult relationship they shared. When she was young she would have the tea with her dad, even though she didn't really like the tea, just so that she could be with him. Rich offered the tea at the very moment she was thinking of those times and telling Abba how much she would love to share moments with Him like she did with her dad at tea time…. and then the tap and tea from her Father was delivered:)

Over 30 years ago we learned a Swiss card game from our dear college friends, Ed and Tacie. Tacie's dad, Roger Sterchi who lived many years in Switzerland, taught our friends. A few years ago we spoke in a YWAM DTS in the Cape Town area and a family from Switzerland attended. Several weeks ago we stayed in Switzerland with this family and one night played this traditional Swiss game. They we're amazed we knew how to play and also could speak the Swiss words used in the game!  They wanted to know who taught us! We told them about Roger and they got really excited. They have friends who share Roger's last name, Sterchi, who lived  close by and called them. After a minuted it became clear that they weren't related.
Soon after they hung up there was a knock at the door and the couple decided to come over to meet us. They had heard many stories from their friend's about their DTS and the wife, Esther, simply said, "I have always wanted to hear from God". We shared a few simple ways to hear from God and just began to speak into her life from Abba's heart and pray over her. The tears of freedom and hope were evident and Esther heard from God through us! How amazing that God was working on this all these years… cards with college friends, a father's last name, and friends who went to South Africa from Switzerland! Can I get an AMEN!

We celebrated Thanksgiving and Christmas with family, enjoyed a few surprise birthday parties, and rest to end the year.
We thank you for giving us your love, support, and prayers to make this life we live possible.
Bless you and enjoy a year of Jubilee in 2014!
Rich and Lynn

PS.  We're also excited to announce that we are once again signed up through YWAM Canada so our friends up north can give and receive the benefit of a tax-deduction.
